Emails

We’ve quite a bit to get thru. Over the next 28 days you’re gonna get emails from me outlining important information about life at TPC. Some will be filling you in on how the gyms operate, others will be about things like “how to know what to eat”, some will be about training, “what to do if something hurts”, etc., etc.
They’re all important. Please read them. Please do not unsubscribe. We’re constantly updating these emails to only include the most important information in them. Think of it as your college education in all things health and fitness.

If you’ve any questions on anything that comes up in the emails at any point, just hit reply and ask me. Don’t wait.

MAKE SURE you reply to this email saying ‘I got your first email’ this will have our email address automatically whitelisted in your address book stopping any future emails going into your spam folder or promotions tab and also let us know that you got it.

Here’s what you need to do now to get started…

What Will Happen On My First Day?

Your first day in TPC is a big day. It’s when you’ll first get to practice strength as a skill. That means we won’t be beasting you.

One of our coaches will guide you through a workout. We’ll sit on your shoulder, show you the movements, explain what they do, why we do it and what you can expect to feel.

You’ll be shown a few progressions to help make the movement easier, and then asked to perform them. If any appear too challenging, or it looks like you’re not quite getting it yet, we’ll step back a few steps and build up from there.

Every movement we use in the gym has several ways to make it easier, and many more ways to make it harder.

DOMS

DOMS stands for “Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness”. It’s the pain and stiffness you feel after working out. Typically 12-72 hours after the fact. It’s not unusual for your muscles to be kinda sore after 24 hours, and REALLY sore after 48. Don’t worry if that happens. It’s normal.

If it’s your first training session in a long time (or ever), just looking at a barbell will be enough to leave you feeling sore and beat up the next day.

Generally, after the first 2-3 weeks, DOMS will go away. It sounds funny to say it now, but you’ll miss it when it’s gone. Don’t fret tho, because every time your training program changes, it’ll come back for a visit.

Think of it as your body’s reaction to your demand for adaptation. Every time you do something new, you’ll get DOMS. And that’s all it is. It’s not a sign of progress (please don’t think you need to be super sore to see improvement).

How Difficult Should The Sessions Be?

If you bring a solid 8-9/10 effort to every training session, you’re well on your way. Don’t be fooled by the “no pain, no gain” mantra. It should really say, “no showing up consistently and putting in solid work? No gain”. But that doesn’t roll off the tongue…

If you’re quite unfit, coming back off a long break or have a bit of weight to lose, your first couple of sessions may be VERY hard. To the point where you don’t finish them. If that happens, we’ll see it during your workout and adjust accordingly.

After your first workout you should feel taxed, but not destroyed. Tired but enthused. Sweaty but happy. Fatigued but energised. If you feel like you’re about to puke up your internal organs, we’ve done something wrong. And please tell us if you do. Within a week or two you’ll be 100% up to speed and looking back on those days wondering why they were so hard…

In general, for almost everything in the gym, you want to bring an 8/10 effort. Any more and you risk compromising technique, you risk fatiguing yourself too early, and if you’re pushing too hard for too long – you’ll burn out.

Not quite a “slow and steady approach”, more of a “work fairly hard consistently, but don’t ruin yourself, and see quick results” approach.

The TPC ethos is to “break clients in, without breaking them”. That means until we’ve a very accurate idea of what your capabilities are and where your strengths and weaknesses lie, we’ll stay on the side of “too easy” rather than “too hard”.

But don’t worry – if it looks like you’re crushing it, we’ll be there to step it up a notch.

How The Challenge Membership Site Works

Today, we’re talking about the mechanical day-to-day ops of the gyms.

At TPC we’re a coaching service. That means it’s our job to make it as easy as possible for you to succeed.

Allow me to clarify a few more points about how TPC operates. I always find it’s best to be upfront about these things in order to avoid confusion down the road!

Policies, Missed Sessions & Holidays

We know from time to time things come up, but it’s important to remember at TPC you’re not buying sessions. You ARE buying a result. We are not a pay-as-you-go gym where you can just flick us a couple of euro every time you want to train, and expect us to go above and beyond to help when you do show up.

As such, we’ve strict policies in place around missed sessions, holidays, and making up sessions. They’re all listed in the “TPC Trial & 12-Week Auto-Debit T&C’s”, but to summarise;

If You Signed Up For Our 28-Day Challenge Offer

  • You’re registered for your 28 day trial of The Physique Consultants Personal Training for €97, your trial begins immediately on day one your 28-Day Transformation Challenge.
  • The 28-Day Transformation Challenge is just the start of your 12-Week Transformation Journey. You are committing to a 12-Week Transformation Program at €49 per week for 12 weeks following the 28-Day Transformation Challenge.
  • Following the 28-Day Transformation Challenge, your 12-Week Transformation Program continues on an AUTO DIRECT DEBIT of €49 per week for 12 weeks. If you are satisfied with and love the 28-Day Transformation Challenge and want to continue to get to your goals, do nothing and your credit card will be charged the default membership fee of €49 each week for 12 weeks, twenty eight (28) days after your trial began.

If You Signed Up For Our Free 7-Day Challenge Offer

  • You’re registered for your free 7 day trial of The Physique Consultants Personal Training, your trial begins immediately on day one your 7-Day Transformation Challenge.
  • The 7-Day Transformation Challenge is just the start of your 12-Week Transformation Journey. You are committing to a 12-Week Transformation Program at €49 per week for 12 weeks following the 7-Day Transformation Challenge.
  • Following the 7-Day Transformation Challenge, your 12-Week Transformation Program continues on an AUTO DIRECT DEBIT of €49 per week for 12 weeks. If you are satisfied with and love the 7-Day Transformation Challenge and want to continue to get to your goals, do nothing and your credit card will be charged the default membership fee of €49 each week for 12 weeks, seven (7) days after your trial began.

Do I Have To Do The 12-Week Transformation Program?

  • This auto direct debit can be cancelled at any time during and up until the end the first 28 days ONLY by emailing info@thephysiqueconsultants.com. You can cancel your auto direct debit and only complete your 28-Day Transformation Challenge as an acknowledgement that you no longer wish to achieve your health and fitness goals. No questions asked. That is completely fine. We won’t hold it up against you.
  • You are not locked into anything right now. This is how we do things here at TPC and we would really love for you to get your desired results. If there’s is anything we can do to make you feel comfortable moving forward, just let us know. Just to reassure you that you can cancel at anytime up until the end of the 28 day trial period.
  • Once the 28-Day Transformation Challenge is completed and if no cancellation email is received within the 28 days, the auto direct debit is contracted for 12 weeks at €49 per week. The 12-Week Transformation Program contract may not be cancelled until the 12 week period has elapsed.

What Happens After I Complete The 12-Week Transformation Program?

  • Automatic renewal will occur immediately after your 12-Week Transformation Program has elapsed. Your membership shifts automatically to a 4-week rolling agreement and the debits remain being charged weekly at €49 per week UNLESS you have given a 4-week notice period of cancellation via email ONLY to info@thephysiqueconsultants.com.

Need To Pause During And/Or After Your 12-Week Transformation Program?

  • No worries. You may suspend your automatically recurring weekly membership for a maximum of 4 weeks, due to holiday, work, illness or other circumstance so you don’t miss out on anything. No charges whatsoever.
  • You must provide written notification via email of your suspension outlining the exact dates of the suspensions at least 7 days before the suspension period requested. A backdated request cannot be made.

Missed Sessions

  • If you miss training sessions, no refund will be offered – be an adult, accept the responsibility to show up.
  • You may not use missed sessions in lieu of membership payments. You don’t get to bring a mouldy loaf of bread back to Tesco and ask for a fresh one for free. Please extend us the same courtesy.

One Last Thing Here – Referrals

I’m really passionate about helping people in our community get fit and stay healthy and I want to spend as much of my time and money as I can doing just that. In fact, 90% of my clients come from personal referrals, which allows me to keep from raising the price of my transformation program because I save so much on marketing. I try to keep my marketing budget very small so I can pass on the savings to you and use my resources to give you even better results.

Of course, I do still need to reach new clients, and that’s where I’d like your help. So make this agreement with me… My purpose is for you to be so outrageously happy with the level of service I provide you and as I help you achieve your goals and get you the results you want from your transformation program with us just as I promised you, can I count on you to help me achieve my goals for my business, which is to let your colleagues/friends/family know about TPC and counting on you to refer one, two or three of your friends who would like to do exactly what you’re doing to me so that I can help them as well. Fair enough?

I usually wait until clients have seen results before asking for referrals but I am very confident you will get great results and want to continue training and tell  all of your pals! Keep me informed about your progress and how your training is going by emailing me anytime you wish, whether you are training with me or one of my trainers!
